School News for Church Bulletin ~ May 8th, 2012

Faith believes in what one cannot see, hear, or touch. Faith is celebrated in the hearts and minds of the people that you can see, the people that you can listen to, and the people in whom you find comfort in their presence. During a gala at Mallozzi's many from our school and family friends gathered together to celebrate St. John the Evangelist School. They expressed what the school has meant to so many throughout its long history and what the closure of the last remaining diocesan Catholic elementary school in the city of Schenectady will mean to our parish faith community in the future. We are thankful for the comforting words and the kindness expressed was much appreciated. As a people of faith, we seek to see the goodness of God's love in each and every situation. Life is certainly a journey and sometimes the road of life curves in a direction that we did not anticipate. There are many different paths that we will now travel; our different journeys will always be enriched if we believe that God is our constant co-pilot and the perfect navigator. Our Heavenly Father's love for us immeasurable, his wisdom divine, and his vision always perfect!
The prayer of St. Francis says, "Where there is darkness, let me be a light." It is important to let the light of God's love shine through to others in both our words and actions. We wish to congratulate the children of our school and parish families who have recently received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation! May you see these precious sacraments gifts as road signs that guide you throughout your life journey.
We like to wish the women of our parish a Happy Mother's Day!
Save the Date~ May 24th The students of SJE are going to light up the night with music! All are welcome to attend our Spring Concert that begins at 7:00.

St. John the Evangelist School, a primary educational ministry of the parish offers a comprehensive learning experience for children from Nursery through Grade Six. Instituted by the Sisters of the Holy Name in 1865, St. John's retains its long-standing tradition of providing academic excellence within a warm, spirited, safe environment enriched by dedicated educators and strong parental and parish involvement. We embrace the uniqueness of our student, families, and community and, through God's Word, we inspire and nurture kindness, respect and responsibility so that all may ultimately serve as faith-filled citizens.
